L/100 km measures fuel consumed, while MPG and km/L measure distance traveled per fuel unit.

Calculation method
Reciprocal consumption units convert through L/100 km. US MPG uses 235.214583 ÷ L/100 km, while UK MPG uses 282.480936 ÷ L/100 km.
Important notes
US and imperial gallons differ, and better efficiency appears as a lower L/100 km number but a higher km/L or MPG number.
Frequently asked questions
Is US MPG the same as UK MPG?
No. An imperial gallon is larger, so the numeric UK MPG value is higher for the same vehicle.
Does this predict actual fuel use?
No. It only converts a stated efficiency value between common units.
